Yorkshire Three Peaks 2023

Info

Join us for the incredible Yorkshire Three Peaks!

Take part in the 24 mile circular walk across the Yorkshire Three Peaks offering amazing views and a great team atmosphere. A fully marshalled walk with checkpoints and support from WISHH who will be there to spur you on with snacks and water!

Starting in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, you will begin your journey hiking up Pen-Y-Ghent, past Ribblehead Viaduct to ascend Whernside and finally tackle the short scramble up Ingleborough before heading back into Horton-in-Ribblesdale where we will be waiting to celebrate your return.

We asked a couple last year’s participants to tell us what they enjoyed about the day and what they would say to anybody thinking of signing up to this year’s Yorkshire Three Peak challenge:

Niluk Fernando, a Planning and Reporting Accountant at the Trust told us after the walk: “It was breath-taking! The aches and pains go away once you see those views. I would do it again!” He went on to say: “You know there is a team of friendly people to support you from start to end from organising the fundraising pages to providing specialist support on the day of the walk if things don’t go to plan.”

When asked about his favourite part of the day, Simon Stapley, a Consultant working in Elderly Medicine answered: “The best part of the day was the view from the final peak. Seeing the sun reflecting off of the water at Morecombe bay was magical and made that final climb really worth the effort.” Simon and fellow HUTH Harriers member Monicah Oakley ran the majority of the route, starting the day three hours after the walkers set off.

Ellie Cockerill, a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Lecturer in Physiotherapy, wanted to share her advice for this year’s walkers: “Make sure you do it in a group! The others were amazing and I genuinely don’t think I’d have made it round on my own.” Ellie added: “We wanted to support WISHH as thanks for all the support in the pandemic. It really helped get us through some tough times! The walk was really hard but so rewarding! A great challenge to do for a great charity.”
