ABOUT WISHH
What is WISHH?
WISHH (Working Independently to Support Hull Hospitals) is the dedicated charity for Hull’s hospitals. We raise funds to make a positive difference for patients, families and staff at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.
Every donation, fundraiser and partnership helps us support projects and experiences that go above and beyond what NHS funding can provide.
What does WISHH do?
We are a grant giving charity, rather than providing direct services in the hospital. This means we award grants to fund projects across the hospitals.
This includes providing equipment and improving hospital environments, supporting patients and families through difficult times and funding experiences that bring comfort, distraction and joy, we help make hospital a better place.
We fundraise to make a real and lasting difference across Hull’s hospitals.
We then work closely with hospital staff to understand where support is needed most, ensuring the money raised by our supporters has a meaningful impact.
Who does WISHH support?
Our work supports patients, families and NHS staff across Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.
Our projects can benefit people of all ages, from children receiving treatment to older patients, as well as the staff caring for them.
Does WISHH replace NHS funding?
No. WISHH provides additional funding to support projects, equipment, experiences and improvements that go beyond what NHS funding can provide.
We work alongside the NHS to identify opportunities where charitable funding can make an additional difference.
Where does my donation go?
We aim to make sure every donation creates a tangible difference for Hull’s hospitals.
Depending on how you choose to support us, your donation could help fund new equipment, improve hospital spaces, support patients and families, provide staff wellbeing initiatives or fund specialist projects within a particular department.
Can I donate equipment or goods instead of money?
Potentially. We receive offers of equipment, products, services and other donations, and these can be incredibly valuable.
However, there may be specific requirements around what can be used within a hospital. Please contact us before purchasing or donating items so we can advise you.

How can I make a donation?
You can make a donation through our website using Just Giving. You can choose to make a one-off donation or set up a regular gift.
Every donation, whatever the amount, helps us make a difference across Hull Hospitals.
Can I make a donation in memory of someone?
Yes. A donation in memory of someone special can be a wonderful way to celebrate their life while helping other patients and families.
You can make a memorial donation or organise a collection in their memory. Our team can also help if you’d like to discuss a more personal way of remembering someone.
Can I leave a gift to WISHH in my Will?
Yes. Leaving a gift to WISHH in your Will is a lasting way to support future generations of patients and families across Hull Hospitals.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HULL HOSPITALS
Is WISHH part of the NHS?
WISHH is an independent charity and is separate from the NHS. We work closely with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to identify where charitable funding can make the greatest difference.
Why do Hull's hospitals need a charity?
The NHS provides healthcare for our communities, but charitable support can help make the experience of receiving and delivering that care even better.
WISHH gives local people and businesses the opportunity to make a direct and positive contribution to their local hospitals — supporting things that can bring comfort, improve experiences and enhance care.

How can I support WISHH?
