Fundraising tips

There are so many brilliant and fun ways to get involved and raise funds for the WISHH Charity. However, if you are a little stuck for ideas please take a look at our A-Z of ideas below for a little inspiration.

A is for Assault Course

Find an obstacle challenge to take part in, such as one of the many organised mud runs. Get a gang of friends together and get sponsored for completing the challenge.

B is for Bring and Buy

If it’s time to declutter those cupboards, then why not arrange a table top sale at a local community hall. Encourage others to do the same and donate their unwanted items to raise further funds.

C is for Cake Sale

Are you a budding Mary Berry? Don your apron and oven gloves and get set, bake! Sell your delights at an event at work, school, community event or from the comfort of your own home.

D is for Dress Up

For a small donation suggest people come to work either dressed down for the day. Or, alternatively, pick a fancy dress theme and bring some fun and flair to your workplace.

E is for Easter

Whether it’s an egg hunt, party or decorating competition, Easter is a great time to organise a fun fundraising eggs-travaganza!

F is for Fashion Show

Strut your stuff on the catwalk. Make your own outfits, team up with a local college or ask for people to donate unwanted clothes that can be sold to raise funds.

G is for Give Something Up

What a brilliant way to kick a bad habit. Whether it’s smoking, alcohol, chocolate, sweets … get sponsored, raise funds and potentially get healthier in the process!

H is for Halloween

Like Easter, Halloween is the perfect opportunity to dress up for work or host a spook-tacular party!

I is for It's a Knockout

Relive the 80’s game show by hosting your own! You could invite teams of friends or businesses to compete. You will need to source equipment for challenges and a good open space, so a local leisure centre may be a good starting point.

J is for Jewellery

Get your creative juices going by creating some funky jewellery and selling it online, at craft fairs or local events.

K is for Karaoke

Have you got the X-Factor? Why not host a singing contest at your local pub or at home and charge an entry fee? See whether you can get a prize donated or borrow equipment from someone locally to keep costs to a minimum.

L is for Lunch

Enlist people in your office bring in different items for lunch from sandwiches, crisps, quiches, cakes and so on. Then invite donations from colleagues to come and feast on these delicious delights.

M is for Marathon

Get those running shoes on and get fit. If you don’t think you could quite make the full distance, then why not try a 10k or half marathon first?

N is for Names

Whether it’s a teddy, baby, new pet; this is a simple way to raise some funds. Ask for name suggestions or provide a grid of options and charge per entry.

O is for Open Garden

Is your garden the pick of the bunch? Why not open it up to the public for a small entry fee and encourage friends, family and neighbours to do the same! Sell cakes and hot drinks at the same time to top up the coffers.

P is for Pamper Day

Are you in the beauty industry or know people who are? Offer pamper sessions or start an auction for luxury experiences with proceeds going to the WISHH Charity.

Q is for Quiz

Are you a bit of a brain box? Get people to pit their wits against each other in a quiz hosted at a local pub or community centre.

R is for Raffle

A great idea to include at an event or fun day. Just charge a fee for tickets and see whether you can get prizes donated by local businesses or individuals in the community.

S is for Skydive

If you’ve ever fancied yourself as a bit of a dare devil, well here’s your opportunity. Get yourself sponsored to take the leap!

T is for Toy Sale

Have your kids grown out of some of their toys and are on to the next fad? Why not declutter with a toy sale and encourage friends, family, neighbours, colleagues to do the same!

U is for Unwanted Presents

We’ve all been there! So either those unwanted gifts could be resigned to the back of the cupboard gathering dust or why not take to a local selling group or auction site and donate the proceeds.

V is for Valentine's Day

Fancy yourself as a bit of a matchmaker? Why not arrange a speed dating event or singles night? Ask for an entry fee and donations on the night.

W is for Walking

If running a marathon is not up your street, then why not challenge yourself to walk one. You can set yourself a bigger challenge of a larger distance, doing it in fancy dress or even 3-legged with a friend!

X is for Xmas Cards

Advise friends and family that you will be donating the cost of Christmas cards and postage this year and encourage them to do the same.

Y is for Yoga

Are you a zenmaster or a bendy beginner?  Why not take part in a yogathon or yoga classes for charity?

Z is for Zip Wire

Get the ultimate adrenaline rush by taking a giant zip wire challenge. There are centres across the country offering different experiences, heights and lengths – choose one that’s for you, get sponsored and have a blast!
